Sikhs on Important Posts

Those who believe that a high post in public or private sector is a God given opportunity to serve the humanity.

In the present world, when there is a tough competition for important posts, Sikhs are vying with others and trying to win good positions both in public and private sector. However, as the percentage of educated Sikhs is very small, there are not many Sikhs who are holding such high positions. Th e need of the time is to educate each and every person of the community and enable them to appear in the competitions successfully and get such positions. If we have Sikhs on those positions, it will benefi t the community in many ways. Firstly, our people in high positions can use their infl uence for appointing more people of Sikh community at lower posts to solve the problem of unemployment among them. Further, these people can help in propagating and promoting Sikh religion by self example and by educating others about Sikh values, teachings, history and traditions. When, the 350th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh was celebrated recently, the two senior Sikh offi cers of Bihar cadre proved very useful in informing the Chief Minister and helping him to take those steps as to make the celebrations successful. Now, when the whole world is appreciating the worthy Chief Minister Sh. Nitish Kumar Ji, the role played by those Sikh offi cers in making all these arrangements cannot be ignored. S. G.S. Kang, who was the Chief Secretary of Bihar some years back was specially invited by the Bihar Government for seeking his guidance and help in making the arrangements excellent in every respect. Shrimati Harjot Kaur, the Secretary for Tourism, Bihar was one of the main persons behind the great show. Sh. Nitish Kumar Ji deserves all the appreciation for making the best of the arrangements and celebrating the great occasion in an unforgettable manner. He has won the hearts of all the Sikhs. Th is shows as how the Sikhs on important posts can play a vital role. Th ere have been Sikhs even as Chief Secretaries of diff erent states (e.g. S.D.S. Bagga, U.P. state) and holding other important positions at center and in the states. We can also easily fi nd the Sikh CEO's and Directors of various high profi le companies in India as well as other countries. Some of the prominent persons among them have been highlighted by us as our role models for this category.
